Secret Polling
Votes where nobody in the server can see who picked what. You get the totals and that's it.
What it does
What it does
Nobody sees your vote
Not the person who made the poll, not the staff, not the other members. The results show counts, and there is no button anywhere that turns a count back into a list of names.
One vote each
The bot keeps track of who has already voted so nobody can stack the result by voting twice.
Votes are deleted when it closes
While the poll is running your vote has to be stored somewhere to be counted. When the poll closes the individual votes are deleted and only the totals are kept.
For the votes that matter
Staff elections, removing someone, anything where people will vote differently if they know their name is attached to it.
Setup
How to set it up
Add the bot
One server, no second side to coordinate with.
Start a poll
Give it a question and the options people can pick from.
Close it and read the totals
The counts stay. Who voted for what goes away.
Worth saying out loud: while a poll is open your vote is written down, because otherwise it can't be counted and the bot can't stop you voting twice. Nothing in Discord shows it to anyone. It is deleted when the poll closes. The privacy policy says exactly what is kept and the terms cover the legal side.
Voting
Vote for Secret Polling
Votes push the bot up the listing sites, which is most of how anyone finds it. It's free and takes a second.
Questions
Questions people ask
Why not just use Discord's built-in polls?
Discord's polls show who voted for what. Anyone in the channel can click an option and read the list of names. That's fine for picking a film. It isn't fine for a vote on whether to remove someone.
Can the person who made the poll see who voted?
No. Making the poll doesn't give you anything the other members don't have.
Can I change my vote?
No. One vote each, and it's locked in once you pick.
What happens to my vote when the poll ends?
It's deleted. The totals are kept so the result still exists, but the record of which option you chose doesn't.
