Secret Polling

Terms of Service

Effective 2026-10-12

Secret Polling is a Discord bot made and run by AzNoobz ("I", "me"). It runs votes in a Discord server where the results are public but the individual votes are not. These terms cover using it. If you add the bot to a server, or you vote in a poll it is running, these terms apply to you.

Who can use it

You need a Discord account in good standing and you have to meet Discord's minimum age for your country. Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines apply on top of these terms.

What "secret" means here, exactly

Nothing in Discord shows an individual vote. Not to the person who created the poll, not to server staff, not to other members, not through any command. When the poll closes the individual votes are deleted and only the totals remain.

While a poll is still open, those votes have to exist somewhere in order to be counted, and they are stored on hardware I control. I therefore have the technical ability to read them during that window. I do not, and the bot gives me no feature for doing so. The only circumstance in which I would is if a lawful authority with proper jurisdiction required it of me, and in that case I would have no real choice.

I would rather put that in writing than let the bot's name imply a guarantee I cannot make. If you are running a vote where that distinction matters to you, use a paper ballot.

Running a poll

Whoever starts a poll is responsible for it. Do not use the bot to run a vote whose purpose is to harass someone, and do not present a poll as anonymous while doing something else to work out who voted which way. Asking people to say in chat how they voted defeats the whole point, and doing it under pressure makes the result worthless anyway.

A poll result is a count of what people clicked. It is not proof of anything, it is not binding on anyone, and I have no involvement in whatever your server decides to do with it.

What you may not do with it

  • Spam polls, or use them to push adverts into a server.
  • Harass anyone, including by running a poll about them.
  • Try to work out how an individual voted, by any means.
  • Attack the bot itself, whether that is abusing commands, trying to overload it, trying to vote more than once, or trying to get at the machine it runs on.

Moderation is still yours

I am not a moderator of your server. How a poll is used, who is allowed to start one, and what happens to the result are all matters for your own staff and your own rules.

I can turn it off

I can remove the bot from a server, or block a server or a user from using it, with no notice, if something here is being broken or if the bot is being abused.

It is free and it might break

Secret Polling costs nothing and comes with no promise that it will be up. It runs on hardware I pay for. It can go down, lose a poll, or get discontinued. There is no service level agreement and no refund, because there is nothing to refund. The bot is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind.

To the extent the law allows it, I am not liable for anything that happens because of the bot or because of a poll run through it. That includes a poll that failed to record a vote, a result somebody disputes, and anything your server did off the back of one.

Your content stays yours

I do not claim ownership of your poll questions or anything else you put into the bot. See the privacy policy for what is and is not kept.

Changes

I can change these terms. The date at the top is the version you are reading. If a change is significant I will post about it in the support server. Using the bot after a change means the new version applies.
